The author made a questionnaire and distributed it to all 24 full-time faculty members and 87 third-year students of a university located in the Chubu District of Japan. More than 70 percent of teachers think that classes taught in English are necessary since the university needs graduates who can work actively in globalized society. Approximately 30 percent of teachers express concern about their own English ability to give lectures and the students’ level of English. More than 60 percent of students show their anxiety about taking classes taught in English, but about 40 percent of them express their willingness to study academic subjects in English.
